ABOUT ME

My name is Ann Bearden and I have enjoyed a long career as an educational specialist utilizing my Masters In Education Degrees in Learning Disabilities and Reading. I am a Certified Wilson Language Systems instructor.

Much of my adult life was spent in New York City where I raised two children of my own while pursuing my career. I have been a resident of the Charlottesville area for over 10 years.  I tutor students at any level, from early primary grades to those in high school, and work with students attending both private and public schools.

MY GOAL

My goal is to help students achieve enjoyment and satisfying rewards in their learning experience and to help them soar past the “bumps in the road” which many students face at some time during their school years.

HIGHLIGHTS

• My M.A. and M.Ed. degrees in Learning Disabilities and Reading are from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City
• I was Principal and Learning Specialist of the Churchill Middle School, a private school in Manhattan, New York for children with a Learning Disability for nine years before my relocation to Virginia.
• I have always maintained an extensive private tutoring practice throughout my career helping scores of students for over more than 30 years.
• My extensive training and experience as a Learning Specialist and diagnostician allow me to determine why a student is having difficulty and to address those areas of difficulty in a comprehensive manner.
• I have extensive experience working with students who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD
